In Katsina, two sisters were detained for allegedly possessing Indian hemp

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) paraded two sisters and the spouse of one of them in front of reporters in Katsina on Tuesday for allegedly possessing six kilogrammes of Indian hemp.

One of the women, Rabi Musa, 45, was arrested in possession of three kilogrammes of Indian hemp, according to Mohammed Bashir, the drug enforcement agency's commander in Katsina State.

He explained that in collaboration with her sister Zainab Musa and her husband, Rabi was helping her now-wanted husband market the illegal substance.

He claimed that Zainab and her husband were also detained for possessing an additional three kg of Indian hemp.

He claimed that the detention of Rabi resulted in the detention of the other two suspects, guaranteeing the detention of her runaway spouse and the prosecution of the three suspects already detained.

He urged parents to seriously consider the results of drug tests conducted on their prospective sons-in-law. He blamed drug abuse for the high number of divorce cases in Katsina State.

He recommended that parents demand drug-free certificates from prospective sons-in-law before arranging for their daughters to be married. This would prevent parents from being influenced by wealth.
