The family of a deceased Imo governor candidate will receive a N25 million refund from the Labour Party

Humphrey Anumudu, a deceased candidate for governor of Imo State, paid the party's N25 million nomination fee, according to Julius Abure, national chairman of the Labour Party, LP.

After meeting with members of the party's National Assembly-Elect, Abure made this statement to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday. He added that the party chose to return the nomination fee to the deceased's family out of compassion and empathy.

Prior to the State governorship election in November, Anumudu had purchased the party's form to run in the primary, but he passed away last week.

"Recall that one of our aspirants died in Imo State," Abure stated. I'm happy to inform that the Labour Party would reimburse his N25 million nomination fee to the general public, Labour Party family members, and his immediate family.

"We must take this action to support the family and demonstrate the kind of compassionate, sympathetic leadership that the Labour Party promotes."
