Elon Musk removes the verification badges for Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, and others

Twitter, a microblogging platform, has removed the Legacy verification check from well-known Nigerian musicians.

The Nigerian singers Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, and Peter Okoye had their verification badges taken from the microblogging platform on Thursday.

Recall that Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, had hinted at plans to commercialise verification tick in a tweet from March that included links to join the premium service.

On April 1st, he announced, "We will start winding down our legacy verified programme and eliminating historical verified checkmarks. Those interested in Twitter Blue can sign up to keep their blue checkmark.

Elon Musk tweeted: "Final date for removing legacy Blue checks is 4/20." This was his announcement of the deadline for the free Blue badge removal.

The removal of the Nigerian superstars' Legacy Blue Tick may be related to the non-payment of the verification subscription charge Musk announced.

Elon Musk is a businessman period, Peter Okoye tweeted in response to his Blue Tick removal on Friday.
