In Kaduna, police detain seven alleged kidnappers and find weapons and ammunition

According to the Kaduna State Police Command, the agents detained seven alleged kidnappers.

According to DSP Mohammed Jalige, the command's public relations officer, the kidnappers were apprehended as a result of a directive given to tactical commanders and divisional police officers by acting police commissioner DCP Mamman B. Giwa to hunt down criminals in the state.

According to him, Yusuf Idi "M" and six other people were captured at Mariri Village in Lere LGA at around 1320 hours by a patrol unit affiliated to Saminaka Area Command working with hunters.

He added that several exhibits were found on the suspects and that they confessed to the crime during the course of the inquiry.

Some of the collected evidence, according to Jalige, included an AK-47 rifle with 14 rounds of 7.62 X 39mm live ammunition, a locally constructed long-range double-barrel gun for firing 12-gauge live bullets, and a locally made 9mm live ammunition handgun.

He claims that a preliminary investigation is ongoing and that efforts to recover other weapons and ammo have been stepped up.

Even though the situation is currently peaceful, he said that officers and men have continued to monitor the general regions. He cited DCP Mamman Giwa, the state's acting commissioner of police, who praised the officers and men for the arrests and recoveries.
