As six more people are killed by a rainstorm in Delta, a 10-year-old boy drowns

The Delta State Government announced on Thursday that a rainfall had resulted in at least seven fatalities and several injuries.

A 10-year-old kid was among the victims, according to the state's commissioner for information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, who made this announcement at a news conference in Asaba.

Deaths were reported in the Oko axis of Oshimili and Okpanam, Oshimili South North Local Government Areas of the state, according to Aniagwu.

"In the Oko axis, the storm that arrived with the deluge on Wednesday caused the deaths of six people when a building and some trees toppled as a result of the rainstorm.

"have sustained some level of injury," he said, "but are in a stable condition."

There is also another one that is so pitiful, he continued. The state government is stepping in with flood control measures in Okotomi Community to prevent floods and to clear the area.

However, a 10-year-old boy who was coming from church that evening slipped and fell into the drain that was being built because of the precipitation that day.

"And because there was so much water in the ongoing building project, the young man was washed away by the flood, despite efforts by neighbours and others to save him. The search is still ongoing as of this writing.

This is really upsetting, and we ask God to give their families the fortitude to endure this loss. even as we pray to God for collective comfort.

He said that a government team was on the scene to ensure that the body was found, coordinated by Chief Patrick Ukah, Secretary to the State Government.
