Breaking: Oladipo Diya, a former chief of staff under Abacha, has passed away

 

General Oladipo Diya, who had retired, passed away at the age of 78, according to his family.

In a statement issued on behalf of the family, Oyesinmilola Diya stated that the late general passed away early on Sunday.

Between 1994 and 1997, Diya was the former president Sani Abacha's chief of staff.

In 1997, he was detained and given a death sentence for supposed treason; however, after Abacha's passing in 1998, he was released.
