FG Speaks On Shutting Down Telecommunications Network, Online Transfer, Others For Election


 The Federal Government of Nigeria, which is led by Muhammadu Buhari, has urged Nigerians to disregard rumours that it will shut down telecommunication networks during the presidential election.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), an agency of the government, urged people to disregard such texts.

Reuben Muoka, the NCC's director of public affairs, provided with a statement on Thursday in which the commission referred to allegations of plans to shut down the network as false and misleading. 

It declared that there are no plans to shut down any telecom networks or pertinent IT units, including the banks' online transfer services.

The message advises the general population in Nigeria, telecom service users, and all bank customers to disregard any messages that suggest a planned shutdown or disruption of the Nigerian telecom network's services.

"With the intention of causing disorder and terror among the population, these destructive and subversive statements were created and are currently being disseminated by con artists and dishonest members of the society.

"All of the service providers have provided the Commission with unambiguous guarantees that all network services are currently operating at peak efficiency and won't experience any intentional shutdowns or disruptions, particularly during this crucial time leading up to the nation's general elections.

Thus, all customers of financial services and telecommunications who use network facilities are guaranteed of continuing to receive excellent service before to, during, and after the general elections in Nigeria.
