17 suspects for kidnapping, robbery, and other offences in Ekiti are paraded by the police

 

The Ekiti State Police Command has recovered several guns and presented 17 individuals over alleged crimes in the state.


Ogundare Dare, the commissioner of police, claimed that the command cracked down on suspects in relation to various heinous crimes.

According to the Command PRO, DSP, Sunday Abutu, who was quoted as naming the suspects, the command RRS detained Augustine Agboobo, Adeniyi Olamilekan, Williams Ukeuima Friday, and Ademoh Gabriel on April 6 during a bush-combing operation near the Igede farm settlement.

"During questioning, the suspects admitted to being part of a kidnapping syndicate that had carried out a number of kidnapping operations in the state of Ekiti, including the abduction of Ajibade Adeleke on June 6, 2022, at Igede Farm, as well as other abductions for which ransoms were demanded." 

In Oke-Ureje, Ado-Ekiti, on April 4, at around 22:00 hours, the command arrested two suspected robbers and recovered two stolen motorcycles with the help of some locals, according to Abutu. The two suspects were identified as Saliu Oyebamiji and Ajisefe Mayowa.


In addition, Jimoh Gani, a known robber and rapist, was detained on April 4 for his involvement in the robbery and rape of a university student in Ikere, Ekiti.

"During questioning, the suspect admitted to committing the horrific murder with one Femi Ayobami and Alfa Kayode, both of Ado-Ekiti, who fled the scene during arrest," according to the report.

A locally built single barrel pistol, a Dane gun, sacks of weeds thought to be Indian hemp, and other items were among the goods the command recovered. 

The command urged all residents to practise security awareness and report any suspicious activity they noticed in their neighbourhood to the closest police station.
