Two people were detained in Nasarawa on charges of 'raping' a deaf adolescent

Two males were detained by the Nasarawa State Police Command for allegedly forcing themselves upon a 15-year-old girl and having illicit carnal knowledge of her.

The state police public relations officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, stated in a statement on Friday that the accused took advantage of the victim's deafness.

According to Nansel, "On March 2, 2023, at around 6:00 p.m., a complaint was filed at the Obi division alleging that two males, Aminu Hashimu, 24, and Lukman Dogara, 18, of Owolosho Street, Obi LGA, Nasarawa State, engaged in criminal conspiracy and sexually assaulted a 15-year-old.

"Police agents from the Obi division began an investigation and manhunt for the culprits as soon as they received the report.

"The preliminary inquiry found that the suspects had unlawful carnal knowledge of the hearing-impaired victim and had enticed her to their apartment on Okpe Street in Obi."

The victim was taken to a hospital right away after the event, according to a police spokesperson, for a medical evaluation.
