Four men were given death by hanging sentences by a Lagos State High Court in Ikeja for the violent robbery and abduction of Mrs. Gloria Emole.

Ifeanyi Maduaka, Victor Chukwunonso, Obinna Nwankwo, and Richard Nwabueze, the defendants, are accused of committing the crimes on November 19, 2012, at around 8.30 am.

On July 13, 2013, a three-count charge of conspiracy, armed robbery, and kidnapping was brought against them by Lagos State, and they were placed in jail custody.

The victim was going to leave her home at 7, Unity Street in the Ogudu GRA neighborhood of Lagos when she was kidnapped, according to Dr. Babajide Martins, the state director of public prosecution, who testified in court.

The prosecution claims that the offenses committed are against and punishable under Sections 297, 285 (2)a, and 291 of the Lagos State 2015 Criminal Code.

The woman was taken hostage on November 19, 2012, and eventually freed on November 22, 2012, after her husband paid a $70,000 ransom.

Earlier this week, Judge Lateef Lawal Akapo declared that the prosecution had established its case beyond a reasonable doubt. and gave the defendants a 10-year sentence on the first conspiracy offense.

For the third crime of kidnapping, they were given a sentence of 21 years in jail and the death penalty for the second count of armed robbery, Justice Lateef ruled.
