Southwest: Osun Labour Party fully for Peter Obi — Chairman

Prior to the presidential election on February 25, the All Progressives Congress, or APC, is rumoured to have absorbed the Labour Party, or LP, structure in the southwest. The party's state chairman in Osun, Adebayo Bello, has revealed that Peter Obi is the party's unwavering presidential candidate in the state.

In an interview with Vanguard on Monday, he said that the source of the alleged news had been dismissed from the party for engaging in anti-party actions and urged Nigerians to ignore the claim.

The chairman claims that the party in Osun has a number of initiatives planned for the triumph of its candidate before the vote on February 25 and would make sure that people in the state remain committed to choosing Obi as the country's president.

"I don't understand why anyone would regard Banjo Omotoso with seriousness. During the campaign for the governor of Ekiti state, he engaged in similar behaviour. He said that the Labour Party's organisation was also absorbed into the APC.

The individual was dismissed from the party for engaging in anti-party activities, thus he is no longer able to speak for the LP in the area. He is unable to continue speaking for our party.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, will receive a private visit from Mr. Peter Obi after the one million-person march for Obi-Datti that is planned for Saturday, February 18, here in Osun. Without the presence of state party chairman, how can someone claim that the LP collapsed into the APC?

The man is obviously speaking for himself because of the financial benefit he anticipates from taking such action. He is a political jobber and does not in any way represent our party, the speaker continued.
