Our victory’ll mark beginning of new Nigeria: Obi

A new Nigeria will emerge if the Labour Party (LP) won the 2023 presidential election on February 25, according to Mr. Peter Obi, the party's presidential candidate.

This was said by Obi at the party's Mega Rally in Lagos' Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), where he was joined by his running companion, Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed, as well as other candidates and party leaders.

The former governor of Anambra declared that if elected, he will keep all of the promises he made to Nigerians.

"I want you to accept what we're promising you because we've allowed individuals to come to this nation for too long, tell us one thing, and then do something else once they're in office.

We've had enough; either you follow our instructions or kindly leave our workplace.

"Kindly go out on February 25 and look for LP; vote for them; and stay there until the votes are tallied. A new Nigeria would start once we win the elections, he declared.

Obi bemoaned the suffering, escalating instability, poverty, unemployment, ongoing industrial strikes, lack of gasoline, and financial difficulty.

"I promise you that Datti and I will safeguard and reunite Nigeria.

"When we start, we'll make sure that no Nigerian will say, "I'm from the West, East, North, or South. Instead, we'll be proud to say we're Nigerians,"

"We pledge to work hard to eradicate poverty and secure employment for our young people. This nation will transition from being a consumer to a producer.

"Lagos will continue to be our financial and academic hub. Nigeria has what it needs to be a great nation, he asserted.

Obi claimed that if not for poor leadership and governance, Nigeria would have been a fantastic nation.

He claimed that their leadership would uphold the law and maintain order.

The LP presidential candidate stated that they would foster a climate that would encourage oil and gas investments, and they would make it impossible for anyone to steal oil from Nigeria once more.

He promised to encourage farmers and young people while making sure that all of the North's uncultivated territory was developed through agriculture.

He claims that their administration will use exports to lower inflation by increasing food production.

"I ask you, young people, to support what we are doing. The growth of young people and women is only getting started, he remarked.

Obi promised that there will be press freedom and an end to intimidation by security forces.

"Police won't bother anyone, ever. They will be in your care as a result of our improved policing. They will carry out the policing.

We will apologize to everyone who has experienced police brutality and work to prevent it from happening again, he said.

Obi asked the young people to support the LP because the party will look out for Nigerian fathers, mothers, and their kids.

In his speech, Baba-Ahmed asked all Nigerians to wake up and unite to take back their country by voting for Obi, expressing confidence in the destiny of the party in the upcoming elections.

"Come back to Nigeria with us. The Labour Party is the single winner of the 2023 election. We are prepared to take Nigeria to new heights, he declared.

Baba-Ahmed referred to Obi as the international mega star Nigerians have been waiting for, an exemplary leader, and a shining example.

He stated, "We shall halt the murdering and start the healing, we shall stop the stealing and start the keeping, from the day we are pronounced victorious.

Pa Ayo Adebanjo, Head of the Pan-Yoruba Socio-Cultural Group, Afenifere, stated that fairness and justice required that Obi be the next president of Nigeria and that the South East be represented.

Adebanjo asked Nigerians to vote for Obi because he has the ability to build the nation and to keep their children in mind.

You are in control of it. I'm not concerned about it. I feel bad for those of you still standing.

"Vote today.

The elderly man counseled young people, "When you vote, guard your votes because no one in power will want to lose it easy."

The National Chairman of LP, Mr. Julius Abure, urged the youths to use Obi in their quest to build the future they desired for themselves. Mr. Abure expressed appreciation for the throngs of Obi's supporters.

"Make the most of this chance. For the first time, all tribes are banding together to support a single candidate. We have to control our own fate.

"You own your own fate. Vote to end hunger and injustice, Abure urged.

Many artists, activists, and other groups attended the event, which drew throngs of Obi supporters, particularly young people.
