In Jigawa voting places, vote buyers do brisk business

During the gubernatorial and state House of Assembly elections in Jigawa State, vote buys were observed conducting brisk business at various polling places.

At certain polling places, voters purchasers from all political parties could be seen openly handing out cash, clothing, and food to voters who had already cast their ballots for their parties.

Musa, a voter at Polling Unit 024 in the Kiyawa LGA, told the Daily Post that he was offered N1000 and two packets of spaghetti in exchange for his vote.

Another voter, Malama Sadiya, said she was given wrapper and detergent after she cast her votes.

The lack of security personnel was used to the advantage of those involved in vote buying.

When reached, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, a spokeswoman for the Jigawa State Police Command, stated more police will be sent to the locations.
