Amotekun arrests: man after allegedly robbing church in Osogbo

A 47-year-old man who allegedly broke into the Cheribum and Seraphim Church in Ogo-Oluwa Area, Osogbo, has been detained by the Amotekun Corps in Osun.

The suspect broke into the church on Friday around 4 a.m., according to Brig.-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi (Rtd. ), the state's Amotekun Commander.

On Saturday, he told reporters in Osogbo that the culprit had been captured after a local resident had alerted corps personnel.

"One of the Ogo-Oluwa villagers called our men in a panic to say that a church was being burgled and that they urgently required our operatives' help to apprehend the perpetrator.

As the culprit tried to flee the scene with his haul, "our operators sprung into action instantly," the officer stated.

According to Adewinmbi, the suspect was found to have a sound system engine, microphones, drum sets, and other equipment.

The commander reported that the suspect had been turned over to the police for additional inquiry.

He urged citizens to keep giving the police corps information that would aid in reducing crime in the state.

He warned locals to always report suspected illicit activity when they see it.
