Naira redesign: APC leader cautions Buhari not to defy the Supreme Court

President Muhammadu Buhari has been counseled by Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi of the All Progressives Congress, APC, not to defy the Supreme Court's ruling on the redesign of the naira.

The party leader in Zamfara insists that Nigerians be able to use the old notes alongside the newly designed notes.

Everyone, "no matter how highly situated," Shinkafi told reporters in Gusau, must respect the law.

No one in the nation is able to disregard the order because of the Supreme Court's decision, he said, according to NAN.

"Respect the order and request the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to allow the notes back into circulation," the politician pleaded with Buhari.

He noted that many residents were severely impacted by the cashless policy and noted that such measures are progressively implemented in advanced nations.

Shinkafi claimed countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, etc., did not "abruptly eliminate old notes from circulation".

The APC representative praised the Zamfara, Kaduna, and Kogi state governors for taking the Buhari administration to court.
